TERM: Championship DEFINITION: This means the dog has received a total of 15 points. It takes 15 points under American Kennel Club to become a champion.

TERM: Junior Dog DEFINITION: A dog that is shown by a handler under 18 years old. The juniors are judged on how well they handle and show their dogs. They compete for year end awards.

TERM: "...singles to finish" DEFINITION: Points are what you earn in dog show classes based on how many dogs are in the ring with you. If a dog is pointed, it means they have earned points towards their Championship. You need a total of 15 points and two majors, which are multiple points earned in one day. If we say the dog needs three singles to finish, it just means the dog needs single points, not majors to finish.

TERM: 4-point Major DEFINITION: Majors are needed to get your championship. These majors are based on how many dogs are in the ring with you. Each breed has their own requirements for majors. There are three, four, and five point majors based on the number of dogs in the classes. The more dogs in the ring, the higher the major.

TERM: Bitch of the litter DEFINITION: In the show world, Bitch is a female dog. Male dogs are called "dogs"

TERM: Breed Ring/Breed Show/ Conformation Show DEFINITION: These kind of dog shows are specific to the breed of the dog. The judge who is familiar with the species evaluates individual purebred dogs for how well the dogs conform to the established Breed type for their breed, as described in a breed's individual breed standar.
